Proactive Investors - Twitter Inc's trust and safety head Ella Irwin has quit the company just months after taking over from vocal Elon Musk critic Yoel Roth.
Irwin confirmed her resignation to Reuters on Thursday, after having joined the company in June last year and replacing Roth as lead content moderator shortly after in November.
Twitter has faced criticism over a new, relaxed stance on content moderation since Musk bought the site for US$44bn in October, with key advertisers leaving the site over concerns of hate speech.
According to civil rights group Stop Toxic Twitter, Coca-Cola, Ford, Meta and Volkswagen are among the big brands to have paused advertising on the site in response to the relaxed content moderation.
Failure to stem the flow of fleeing advertisers has reportedly burdened the company’s revenues and caused the site to plummet by up to two-thirds in value since Musk’s buyout.
Irwin is yet to shed light on the reasons behind the resignation, with Fortune having reported first that her internal Slack account had been deactivated.
