Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Metals, Textile & Leather and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Eregli Demir Celik (IS:EREGL), which rose 6.64% or 0.330 points to trade at 5.300 at the close. Konya Cimento (IS:KONYA) added 4.49% or 12.00 points to end at 279.00 and Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE) was up 4.12% or 0.500 points to 12.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Odas Elektrik (IS:ODAS), which lost 3.04% or 0.250 points to trade at 7.970 in late trade. Celebi (IS:CLEBI) declined 2.54% or 0.58 points to end at 22.24 and KOC Holding (IS:KCHOL) shed 2.17% or 0.29 points to 13.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 167 to 160 and 80 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.51% or 6.00 to $1179.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.52% or 1.28 to hit $52.10 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.68% or 1.44 to trade at $55.08 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 3.13% to 3.9100, while EUR/TRY rose 2.28% to 4.0917.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 102.86.
