Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Sports, Telecoms and Metal Products & Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 added 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Galatasaray Sportif Sinai ve Ticari Yatirimlar AS (IS:GSRAY), which rose 7.44% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.30 at the close. Besiktas Futbol Yatirimlari Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:BJKAS) added 5.70% or 0.090 points to end at 1.670 and Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS ORD (IS:TCELL) was up 5.60% or 0.66 points to 12.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Goltas Goller Bolgesi Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:GOLTS), which lost 7.12% or 0.82 points to trade at 10.70 in late trade. Cemtas Celik Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:CEMTS) declined 4.12% or 0.240 points to end at 5.590 and Erbosan Erciyas Boru Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:ERBOS) shed 3.95% or 2.25 points to 54.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 226 to 124 and 55 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.30% or 3.90 to $1289.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.75% or 1.80 to hit $49.76 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.12% or 1.78 to trade at $58.84 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.11% to 5.3891, while EUR/TRY rose 1.71% to 6.1791.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 95.292.
