Tesla is the most popular stock across TikTok and Instagram, according to new research.
Data compiled by financial services provider CMC Markets found that Tesla is the most searched-for name on social media platforms.
Across TikTok, which allows users to post video reels, there were more than 45.4mln views with the post #TeslaStock with 28,391 Instagram posts.
In second place was ‘meme-stock’ darling AMC Entertainment, with the #AMCStock amassing more than 25.8mln views, with the same hashtag attached to 14,834 Instagram posts.
On Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) searches, the positions are reversed, with AMC the most popular search according to Ahrefs with 490,000 a month and Tesla 282,000 a month.
Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) comes third on the list, with 11.7mln views on TikTok with #AppleStock, and 12,436 Instagram posts.
Making up the rest of the top 10 list is GameStop (NYSE:GME), Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Nio, Meta Platforms, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Disney and Ford.
“While these findings might illustrate what stocks get coverage on social media, it also shows the sheer amount of views one can get from posting about them,” a spokesperson for CMC Markets said.
“Many people are turning to social media for their information on the stock market and even tips and tricks for using it properly.”
“The inclusion of ‘meme stocks’ like AMC and GameStop is no surprise either, with social media sites being some of the biggest pioneers for the rise and fall of these stocks.”
