Proactive Investors - Technology Minerals PLC (LON:TM1) has hailed progress at its lithium recycling subsidiary, Recyclus Group Ltd, following recent jumps in feedstock and production.
Updating on Recyclus’s Wolverhampton site, which is among the UK’s first industrial-scale lithium-ion battery recycling plants, Technology Minerals said 100 tonnes of feedstock has now been secured - the maximum allowed under the firm’s permit.
Recyclus has also seen a “significant” rise in production recently, Technology Minerals said in a statement, scoring black mass yields of up to 45%.
“With the market rate for black mass exceeding £3,500 per tonne, this process marks a notable stride in battery recycling efficiency,” Technology Minerals added.
Black mass itself is a key component in battery manufacturing, containing lithium, manganese, nickel and cobalt.
Recyclus, which is 48.35% owned by Technology Minerals, also separates and prepares copper, aluminium and plastics for resale at its Wolverhampton plant.
“Our Wolverhampton plant is successfully ramping up production of high-quality, high-rate black mass, crucial for the battery sector,” Recyclus director Robin Brundle commented.
“This achievement underscores the effectiveness of our technical solutions and the expertise of our on-site engineers, emphasising our commitment to sustainable battery metal recovery.”
