Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Information Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which rose 10.00% or 0.81 points to trade at 8.91 at the close. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) added 9.92% or 0.24 points to end at 2.66 and Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) was up 9.82% or 1.35 points to 15.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which lost 7.64% or 0.59 points to trade at 7.72 in late trade. X-Legend (TW:4994) declined 7.13% or 7.10 points to end at 92.50 and Chipmos (TW:8150) shed 6.42% or 2.30 points to 33.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 708 to 136 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.58% or 0.71 to $45.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.34% or 0.64 to hit $48.10 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1138.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.41% to 32.523, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1952.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 95.37.
