Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Glass and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Da-Li Const (TW:6177), which rose 9.07% or 1.95 points to trade at 23.45 at the close. Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) added 8.59% or 0.17 points to end at 2.15 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 6.63% or 0.57 points to 9.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems (TW:2444), which lost 9.94% or 1.60 points to trade at 14.50 in late trade. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.84% or 0.18 points to end at 1.65 and Walsin Tech (TW:2492) shed 9.54% or 2.50 points to 23.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 590 to 183 and 77 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.20% or 0.52 to $43.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.03% or 0.46 to hit $44.99 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.30 to trade at $1247.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 32.319, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2007.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 94.70.
