Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Computers & Peripherals and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jentech (TW:3653), which rose 9.99% or 4.95 points to trade at 54.50 at the close. Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) added 9.90% or 2.00 points to end at 22.20 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 9.73% or 1.10 points to 12.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taliang (TW:3167), which lost 4.28% or 1.40 points to trade at 31.30 in late trade. Ritek (TW:2349) declined 3.85% or 0.160 points to end at 4.000 and Solartech Ener (TW:3561) shed 3.71% or 0.65 points to 16.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 407 to 335 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.40% or 0.16 to $40.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.47% or 0.20 to hit $42.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1359.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 31.631, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2112.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 95.58.
