Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Rubber and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 2.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chipmos (TW:8150), which rose 10.00% or 2.35 points to trade at 25.85 at the close. 1St Copper Tec (TW:2009) added 9.94% or 0.78 points to end at 8.63 and Tai-I (TW:1613) was up 9.93% or 0.300 points to 3.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pegatron (TW:4938), which lost 10.00% or 8.30 points to trade at 74.70 in late trade. Ennoconn (TW:6414) declined 9.96% or 47.50 points to end at 429.50 and Everfocus Elec (TW:5484) shed 9.93% or 0.700 points to 6.350.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 603 to 201 and 66 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.38% or 0.17 to $44.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.28% or 0.13 to hit $45.71 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.45% or 5.75 to trade at $1260.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.73% to 31.815, while TWD/CNY rose 0.33% to 0.2151.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 98.66.
