Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Everfocus Elec (TW:5484), which rose 9.88% or 0.500 points to trade at 5.560 at the close. Crowell (TW:2528) added 8.68% or 0.59 points to end at 7.39 and Les Enphants (TW:2911) was up 8.17% or 1.05 points to 13.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Htc Corp (TW:2498), which lost 5.87% or 5.50 points to trade at 88.20 in late trade. Tainan Enter (TW:1473) declined 5.02% or 1.95 points to end at 36.90 and Twn Cement (TW:1101) shed 4.81% or 1.55 points to 30.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 554 to 178 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.17% or 0.56 to $47.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.98% or 0.48 to hit $48.49 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.98% or 25.45 to trade at $1313.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 32.352, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2042.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 94.28.
