Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Products Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.99% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439), which rose 9.85% or 2.70 points to trade at 30.10 at the close. Uniflex Technology Inc (TW:3321) added 9.80% or 1.50 points to end at 16.80 and Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) was up 9.80% or 0.80 points to 8.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elite Advanced Laser Corp (TW:3450), which lost 10.00% or 8.90 points to trade at 80.10 in late trade. Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) declined 10.00% or 10.80 points to end at 97.20 and Tung Kai Technology Engineering Co Ltd (TW:3018) shed 9.99% or 6.90 points to 62.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 624 to 186 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.27% or 0.18 to $66.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $72.39 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 5.80 to trade at $1194.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 30.858, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.64.
