Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sintronic Technology Inc (TW:3536), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) added 9.94% or 4.45 points to end at 49.20 and Falcon Power Co Ltd (TW:1516) was up 9.91% or 1.65 points to 18.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which lost 9.93% or 13.50 points to trade at 122.50 in late trade. Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958) declined 9.88% or 6.50 points to end at 59.30 and CSBC Corp Taiwan (TW:2208) shed 9.70% or 2.30 points to 21.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 549 to 246 and 118 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.06% or 0.04 to $67.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $73.28 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.20 to trade at $1309.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 29.710, while TWD/CNY rose 0.38% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 92.34.
