Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.38% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which rose 9.99% or 3.95 points to trade at 43.50 at the close. Fortune Electric Co Ltd (TW:1519) added 9.79% or 2.10 points to end at 23.55 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) was up 9.76% or 1.80 points to 20.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Champion Microelectronic Corp (TW:3257), which lost 9.99% or 7.10 points to trade at 64.00 in late trade. Sitronix Technology Corp (TW:8016) declined 9.77% or 12.50 points to end at 115.50 and Gigastorage Corp (TW:2406) shed 9.73% or 1.10 points to 10.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 469 to 325 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.50% or 0.35 to $70.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.72% or 0.55 to hit $76.69 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.20 to trade at $1257.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.456, while TWD/CNY rose 0.32% to 0.2162.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.29.
