Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Union Insurance Co Ltd (TW:2816), which rose 9.94% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.90 at the close. Choice Development Inc (TW:9929) added 9.83% or 1.15 points to end at 12.85 and Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442) was up 9.70% or 1.15 points to 13.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asia Cement Corp (TW:1102), which lost 5.09% or 2.25 points to trade at 41.95 in late trade. Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) declined 4.54% or 11.00 points to end at 231.50 and Leadtek Research Inc (TW:2465) shed 4.19% or 0.70 points to 16.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 412 to 353 and 148 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.32% or 0.22 to $69.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.27% or 0.21 to hit $77.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 3.70 to trade at $1207.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 30.686, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2232.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.53.
