Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electricity, Optoelectronic and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were L&K Eng (TW:6139), which rose 10.00% or 3.65 points to trade at 40.15 at the close. Coadna (TW:4984) added 10.00% or 5.20 points to end at 57.20 and Pec (TW:4916) was up 10.00% or 2.50 points to 27.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wei Chih Steel (TW:2028), which lost 9.52% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.90 in late trade. Pao Lung (TW:1906) declined 4.63% or 0.44 points to end at 9.07 and Via Tech (TW:2388) shed 4.55% or 0.50 points to 10.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 667 to 115 and 69 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.46% or 0.53 to $36.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.93% or 0.36 to hit $39.10 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.80 to trade at $1233.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.31% to 32.811, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1983.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.84.
