Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Iron & Steel and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.83% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yieh Hsing Ent (TW:2007), which rose 10.00% or 0.540 points to trade at 5.940 at the close. Shihlin Paper (TW:1903) added 10.00% or 3.45 points to end at 37.95 and Hai Kwang (TW:2038) was up 9.99% or 0.70 points to 7.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatung Co Ltd (TW:2371), which lost 7.08% or 1.25 points to trade at 16.40 in late trade. I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) declined 6.15% or 0.80 points to end at 12.20 and C Sun Mfg (TW:2467) shed 4.50% or 1.00 points to 21.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 612 to 180 and 88 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.58% or 0.31 to $52.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.45% or 0.25 to hit $55.72 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.75 to trade at $1227.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.38% to 30.755, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2222.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 101.19.
