Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic Products Distribution, Semiconductor and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Advanced Power (TW:8261), which rose 9.98% or 2.55 points to trade at 28.10 at the close. Chang Type (TW:1541) added 9.95% or 4.15 points to end at 45.85 and Uniform (TW:2482) was up 9.92% or 1.20 points to 13.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Abocom Systems (TW:2444), which lost 10.00% or 0.97 points to trade at 8.73 in late trade. Mosel (TW:2342) declined 6.37% or 0.17 points to end at 2.50 and Eclat Textile (TW:1476) shed 5.56% or 28.50 points to 484.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 468 to 374 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.37% or 0.63 to $45.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.97% or 0.47 to hit $48.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1109.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.58% to 32.483, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1980.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.46.
