Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Electricity and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.10% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906), which rose 10.00% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.55 at the close. Jentech (TW:3653) added 9.90% or 4.10 points to end at 45.50 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was up 9.86% or 0.560 points to 6.240 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chun Yu Works (TW:2012), which lost 3.06% or 0.45 points to trade at 14.25 in late trade. China Metal (TW:1532) declined 2.75% or 1.00 points to end at 35.35 and Amtran Tech (TW:2489) shed 2.61% or 0.55 points to 20.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 471 to 283 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.34% or 0.60 to $45.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.12% or 0.52 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.73% or 9.75 to trade at $1333.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.48% to 32.028, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2088.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.28.
