Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inotera Memo (TW:3474), which rose 9.93% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.70 at the close. Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 9.93% or 0.59 points to end at 6.53 and Aoc (TW:6289) was up 8.57% or 0.12 points to 1.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included F-Pcl (TW:4977), which lost 8.44% or 4.80 points to trade at 52.10 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.42% or 2.30 points to end at 33.50 and Visual Photoni (TW:2455) shed 6.07% or 3.20 points to 49.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 448 to 396 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.04% or 1.06 to $51.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.57% or 0.92 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.24% or 2.80 to trade at $1152.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.39% to 31.076, while TWD/CNY fell 0.15% to 0.1986.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 97.16.
