Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electricity and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 3.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were EverFocus Electronics Corp (TW:5484), which rose 10.00% or 6.60 points to trade at 72.60 at the close. FocalTech Systems Co Ltd (TW:3545) added 10.00% or 7.00 points to end at 77.00 and Favite Inc (TW:3535) was up 10.00% or 6.10 points to 67.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524), which lost 10.00% or 10.40 points to trade at 93.60 in late trade. Hung Ching Development & Construction Co Ltd (TW:2527) declined 10.00% or 4.25 points to end at 38.25 and King Slide Works Co Ltd (TW:2059) shed 9.95% or 106.00 points to 959.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.11% or 0.08 to $75.15 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.22% or 0.17 to hit $78.16 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 1.90 to trade at $2,434.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.60% to 32.47, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.27% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 102.81.
