Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 3.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470), which rose 10.00% or 1.90 points to trade at 20.90 at the close. Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019) added 9.92% or 7.90 points to end at 87.50 and Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) was up 9.92% or 38.50 points to 426.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hung Ching Development & Construction Co Ltd (TW:2527), which lost 10.00% or 4.25 points to trade at 38.25 in late trade. King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524) declined 10.00% or 10.40 points to end at 93.60 and Metaage Corp (TW:6112) shed 9.98% or 4.85 points to 43.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.25% or 0.18 to $73.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.14% or 0.11 to hit $76.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.40 to trade at $2,430.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 32.69, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.60% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 103.08.
