Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronics and Electrical/Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chant Sincere Co Ltd (TW:6205), which rose 9.97% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.50 at the close. Cosmo Electronics Corp (TW:2466) added 9.94% or 5.00 points to end at 55.30 and Altek Corp (TW:3059) was up 9.89% or 3.25 points to 36.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Formosa Oilseed Processing Co Ltd (TW:1225), which lost 9.92% or 5.00 points to trade at 45.40 in late trade. Shin Tai Industry Co Ltd (TW:1235) declined 8.88% or 8.20 points to end at 84.10 and Ji-Haw Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3011) shed 4.64% or 1.15 points to 23.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.42% or 0.29 to $69.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.41% or 0.30 to hit $72.62 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 4.37 to trade at $2,632.57 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 32.71, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.04% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 107.90.
