Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442), which rose 9.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Tainergy Tech Co Ltd (TW:4934) added 9.91% or 0.67 points to end at 7.43 and Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) was up 9.90% or 1.00 points to 11.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which lost 9.93% or 2.95 points to trade at 26.75 in late trade. Chlitina Holding Ltd (TW:4137) declined 6.33% or 15.50 points to end at 229.50 and Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) shed 5.54% or 13.00 points to 221.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 610 to 182 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.23% or 0.16 to $69.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $79.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 4.90 to trade at $1207.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.777, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.11.
