Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Optoelectronic and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026), which rose 9.94% or 16.00 points to trade at 177.00 at the close. Yageo Corp (TW:2327) added 9.94% or 67.00 points to end at 741.00 and Min Aik Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:4545) was up 9.93% or 3.80 points to 42.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airmate Cayman International Co Ltd (TW:1626), which lost 9.50% or 2.10 points to trade at 20.00 in late trade. Avision Inc (TW:2380) declined 7.68% or 0.52 points to end at 6.25 and Kung Sing Engineering Corp (TW:5521) shed 5.45% or 0.70 points to 12.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 433 to 323 and 155 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.05% or 0.73 to $70.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.98% or 0.73 to hit $75.60 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.90 to trade at $1313.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.32% to 29.774, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2137.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.53.
