Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Iron & Steel, Optoelectronic and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius Electronic Optical Co Ltd (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 37.00 points to trade at 407.00 at the close. China General Plastics Corp (TW:1305) added 10.00% or 3.30 points to end at 36.30 and Coxon Precise Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3607) was up 9.92% or 2.45 points to 27.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aurotek Corp (TW:6215), which lost 9.95% or 2.15 points to trade at 19.45 in late trade. Spirox Corp (TW:3055) declined 6.30% or 1.25 points to end at 18.60 and Ace Pillar Co Ltd (TW:8374) shed 6.01% or 1.85 points to 28.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 493 to 293 and 90 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.57% or 0.27 to $47.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.56% or 0.29 to hit $51.95 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 5.43 to trade at $1291.27 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.12% to 30.289, while TWD/CNY fell 0.32% to 0.2201.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.16.
