Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Rubber and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.64% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lien Chang Elt (TW:2431), which rose 10.00% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.30 at the close. Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) added 10.00% or 1.55 points to end at 17.05 and Airmate (TW:1626) was up 9.94% or 2.60 points to 28.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which lost 9.09% or 1.20 points to trade at 12.00 in late trade. Airtac (TW:1590) declined 8.21% or 19.50 points to end at 218.00 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 5.79% or 0.95 points to 15.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 398 to 333 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.69% or 0.29 to $42.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.54% or 0.24 to hit $44.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 5.15 to trade at $1339.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 31.516, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2103.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 96.24.
