Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Trading & Consumer Goods, Paper & Pulp and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ko Ja Cayman Co Ltd (TW:5215), which rose 9.98% or 2.70 points to trade at 29.75 at the close. Inventec Besta Co Ltd (TW:8201) added 9.96% or 1.15 points to end at 12.70 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was up 9.94% or 3.15 points to 34.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sino Horizon Holdings Ltd (TW:2923), which lost 5.64% or 1.15 points to trade at 19.25 in late trade. Gold Circuit Electronics Ltd (TW:2368) declined 5.15% or 0.70 points to end at 12.90 and Iron Force Industrial Co Ltd (TW:2228) shed 5.04% or 4.40 points to 82.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 522 to 277 and 108 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.14% or 0.07 to $51.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $60.05 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.17% or 2.15 to trade at $1251.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.18% to 30.864, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 97.102.
