Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057), which rose 10.00% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.55 at the close. Acer Inc (TW:2353) added 9.95% or 2.05 points to end at 22.65 and APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449) was up 9.91% or 5.40 points to 59.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which lost 10.00% or 9.00 points to trade at 81.00 in late trade. Tatung Co (TW:2371) declined 9.92% or 1.95 points to end at 17.70 and Shuttle Inc (TW:2405) shed 6.37% or 1.35 points to 19.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 447 to 324 and 109 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.34% or 0.20 to $58.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.20% or 0.13 to hit $64.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1270.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 29.935, while TWD/CNY fell 0.45% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 92.95.
