Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Machinery and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.44% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Prime Electronics & Satellitics Inc (TW:6152), which rose 9.98% or 0.47 points to trade at 5.18 at the close. Scientech Corp (TW:3583) added 9.95% or 5.70 points to end at 63.00 and Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) was up 9.90% or 0.60 points to 6.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which lost 8.08% or 0.63 points to trade at 7.17 in late trade. Young Optics Inc (TW:3504) declined 5.06% or 4.10 points to end at 76.90 and Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) shed 4.76% or 1.05 points to 21.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 453 to 293 and 169 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.32% or 0.71 to $52.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.28% or 0.79 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.35 to trade at $1300.45 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.29% to 30.796, while TWD/CNY fell 0.23% to 0.2189.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 95.472.
