Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Other Electronic and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were C Sun Mfg (TW:2467), which rose 9.78% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.40 at the close. Genius (TW:3406) added 5.45% or 6.00 points to end at 116.00 and Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) was up 5.14% or 0.90 points to 18.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.40% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.35 in late trade. Genesis Photon (TW:3383) declined 8.37% or 0.22 points to end at 2.41 and Yang Ming Mari (TW:2609) shed 5.98% or 0.30 points to 4.72.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 409 to 339 and 123 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.30% or 0.16 to $52.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.25% or 0.14 to hit $55.55 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.23% or 2.65 to trade at $1163.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 31.768, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2175.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 101.03.
