Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Hotels, Transport and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which rose 10.00% or 0.50 points to trade at 5.50 at the close. Lida Holdings Ltd (TW:4552) added 9.98% or 5.00 points to end at 55.10 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) was up 9.96% or 2.80 points to 30.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hung Ching Development & Construction Co Ltd (TW:2527), which lost 9.83% or 2.60 points to trade at 23.85 in late trade. Asustek Computer Inc (TW:2357) declined 8.77% or 20.00 points to end at 208.00 and Chainqui Construction Development Co Ltd (TW:2509) shed 6.60% or 2.00 points to 28.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 491 to 307 and 101 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.56% or 0.31 to $55.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $65.35 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.50 to trade at $1203.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.904, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2256.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 96.94.
