Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Auto, Plastic and Chemical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019), which rose 9.95% or 10.50 points to trade at 116.00 at the close. Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) added 9.68% or 10.50 points to end at 119.00 and Hai Kwang Enterprise Corp (TW:2038) was up 9.63% or 1.05 points to 11.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471), which lost 8.53% or 0.74 points to trade at 7.94 in late trade. Acer Inc (TW:2353) declined 7.30% or 2.20 points to end at 27.95 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) shed 7.20% or 1.70 points to 21.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 465 to 316 and 113 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.02% or 0.67 to $66.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.72% or 0.51 to hit $71.04 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.58% or 7.80 to trade at $1364.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 29.068, while TWD/CNY fell 0.50% to 0.2186.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 88.75.
