Starfield, Microsoft Corp.‘s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Bethesda Game Studios’ highly anticipated space adventure, has faced a rough journey since its launch.
Despite years of hype and development, the game disappointed many upon release. Gamers criticized it for being lackluster and outdated with technical issues, Insider Gaming reported.
A year later, Starfield continues to struggle. Fans eagerly await news about its first major expansion, but Bethesda has kept them waiting.
The game’s presence in streaming and content creation has declined sharply, indicating a loss of interest among players.
To make matters worse, Starfield has become a target of criticism on Steam. Bethesda’s decision to introduce paid mods through the Creation Club, a move that upset fans who were used to free mods from previous Bethesda games like Fallout and Skyrim, sparked negative reviews and backlash.
Even the Shattered Space expansion announcement, shown in a recent trailer, hasn’t eased concerns. Without a release date, players remain skeptical and increasingly turn to other games.
