Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power & Energy and Motors sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.63% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which rose 11.11% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.000 at the close. Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) added 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 1.100 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) was up 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which lost 20.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.400 in late trade. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) declined 14.29% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.6000 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) shed 13.12% or 226.60 points to 1500.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 66 and 57 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.04 to $56.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.33% or 0.21 to hit $63.31 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 4.51 to trade at $1278.71 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 1.04% to 200.830, while USD/LKR rose 0.01% to 153.610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 94.50.
