Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare, Trading and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.28% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 15.38% or 8.00 points to trade at 60.00 at the close. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) added 14.29% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and Serendib Engineering Group PLC (CM:IDL) was up 13.56% or 0.80 points to 6.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which lost 22.58% or 350.00 points to trade at 1200.00 in late trade. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) declined 14.29% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.6000 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) shed 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 97 to 55 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.23% or 0.13 to $57.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $63.48 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 4.50 to trade at $1252.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.04% to 204.710, while USD/LKR fell 0.08% to 153.090.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.75.
