Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction & Engineering, Telecoms and Information Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.28% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 16.67% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) added 15.49% or 5.90 points to end at 44.00 and Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) was up 14.12% or 86.60 points to 700.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included York Arcade Holdings PLC (CM:YORK), which lost 10.47% or 13.50 points to trade at 115.50 in late trade. Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) declined 10.29% or 3.90 points to end at 34.00 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) shed 10.00% or 0.100 points to 0.900.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 91 to 77 and 60 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $60.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.14% or 0.09 to hit $64.80 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.18% or 2.40 to trade at $1323.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.10% to 217.335, while USD/LKR rose 0.06% to 155.960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 89.77.
