Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Land & Property, Trading and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.45% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (CM:DIST), which rose 18.75% or 45.00 points to trade at 285.00 at the close. Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 16.64% or 9.70 points to end at 68.00 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 15.38% or 4.40 points to 33.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA), which lost 11.88% or 4.10 points to trade at 30.40 in late trade. Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) shed 6.67% or 1.50 points to 21.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 151 to 45 and 40 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.32% or 0.53 to $40.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.57% or 0.66 to hit $42.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.39% or 5.30 to trade at $1364.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 192.525, while USD/LKR fell 0.04% to 146.025.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.36.
