Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Services, Investment Trust and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 1.31% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL), which rose 25.00% or 3.90 points to trade at 19.50 at the close. Maskeliya Plantations PLC (CM:MASK) added 23.38% or 1.80 points to end at 9.50 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) was up 22.29% or 3.90 points to 21.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which lost 14.29% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 in late trade. Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) declined 10.34% or 6.90 points to end at 59.80 and Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) shed 10.33% or 218.80 points to 1900.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 178 to 20 and 33 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.42% or 0.15 to $35.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.50% or 0.19 to hit $37.50 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.12% or 13.60 to trade at $1232.90 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 206.540, while USD/LKR fell 0.22% to 144.800.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 94.75.
