Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Telecoms and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU), which rose 25.00% or 1.60 points to trade at 8.00 at the close. Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) added 25.00% or 4.50 points to end at 22.50 and Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD) was up 23.24% or 282.90 points to 1500.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO), which lost 24.53% or 15.60 points to trade at 48.00 in late trade. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) declined 23.08% or 600.10 points to end at 2000.00 and Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) shed 19.77% or 418.80 points to 1700.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 163 to 30 and 43 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.54% or 0.96 to $38.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.00% or 0.80 to hit $40.85 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.60% or 7.60 to trade at $1265.20 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 1.44% to 203.085, while USD/LKR fell 1.88% to 142.280.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.62.
