Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.91% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT), which rose 17.65% or 15.00 points to trade at 100.00 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 14.29% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and Kotmale Holdings PLC (CM:LAMB) was up 14.17% or 20.60 points to 166.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.100 in late trade. Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) declined 18.73% or 311.20 points to end at 1350.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) shed 14.29% or 0.1000 points to 0.6000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 158 to 67 and 37 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.94% or 0.48 to $51.33 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.04% or 0.55 to hit $53.48 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 3.90 to trade at $1279.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.03% to 195.045, while USD/LKR fell 0.24% to 152.110.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 99.47.
