Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Footwear & Textile, Investment Trust and Plantations sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.85% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 33.33% or 0.2000 points to trade at 0.8000 at the close. Kotmale Holdings PLC (CM:LAMB) added 24.34% or 50.90 points to end at 260.00 and Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD) was up 16.13% or 250.00 points to 1800.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.100 in late trade. Udapussellawa Plantations PLC (CM:UDPL) declined 9.78% or 2.20 points to end at 20.30 and Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) shed 9.09% or 0.100 points to 1.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 157 to 41 and 51 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.81% or 0.40 to $49.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.88% or 0.46 to hit $51.95 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.13 to trade at $1265.33 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.60% to 196.555, while USD/LKR rose 0.12% to 152.390.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 98.89.
