Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power & Energy, Plantations and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.53% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Bimputh Finance PLC (CM:BIMP), which rose 11.11% or 6.60 points to trade at 66.00 at the close. Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 11.11% or 6.00 points to end at 60.00 and Richard Pieris Exports PLC (CM:REXP) was up 11.07% or 15.90 points to 159.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 in late trade. Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) declined 5.56% or 1.00 points to end at 17.00 and Singhe Hospitals Ltd (CM:SIGH) shed 4.76% or 0.10 points to 2.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 163 to 63 and 13 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.15% or 0.07 to $50.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.20% or 0.12 to hit $57.03 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.12% or 1.40 to trade at $1142.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.10% to 209.000, while USD/LKR rose 0.07% to 133.855.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.78.
