Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Diversified Holdings, Footwear & Textile and Motors sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Carson Cumberbatch PLC (CM:CARS), which rose 22.82% or 57.60 points to trade at 310.00 at the close. Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) added 19.02% or 3.10 points to end at 19.40 and Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) was up 18.18% or 10.00 points to 65.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hunas Falls Hotels PLC (CM:HUNA), which lost 11.07% or 5.60 points to trade at 45.00 in late trade. Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) declined 8.33% or 0.10 points to end at 1.10 and Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC (CM:LION) shed 8.20% or 41.00 points to 459.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 56 and 47 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.53% or 0.22 to $40.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $41.23 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.66% or 8.30 to trade at $1246.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.20% to 209.440, while USD/LKR rose 0.19% to 145.240.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.10.
