Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Plantations, Telecoms and Land & Property sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kegalle Plantations PLC (CM:KGAL), which rose 47.21% or 44.90 points to trade at 140.00 at the close. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) added 16.27% or 8.80 points to end at 62.90 and Namunukula Plantations PLC (CM:NAMU) was up 12.29% or 8.10 points to 74.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which lost 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 in late trade. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) declined 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH) shed 9.09% or 0.10 points to 1.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 156 to 89 and 17 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.91% or 0.48 to $52.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.06% or 0.62 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.21% or 2.40 to trade at $1155.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.38% to 208.295, while USD/LKR rose 0.62% to 134.315.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.57% at 96.51.
