Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Plantations, Diversified Holdings and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.900 at the close. Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) added 12.07% or 2.10 points to end at 19.50 and Ceylon Tea Brokers PLC (CM:CEYL) was up 10.81% or 0.400 points to 4.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which lost 21.74% or 361.20 points to trade at 1300.00 in late trade. Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) declined 12.50% or 10.00 points to end at 70.00 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) shed 7.43% or 1.10 points to 13.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 89 to 65 and 50 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.92% or 0.46 to $50.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.98% or 0.52 to hit $53.52 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1177.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.16% to 187.535, while USD/LKR fell 0.25% to 148.280.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 99.96.
