Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 2.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS), which rose 0.58% or 0.058 points to trade at 10.055 at the close. Jazztel (MADRID:JAZ) fell 0.04% or 0.005 points to end at 12.940 and Int.Airl.Grp (MADRID:ICAG) was down 0.92% or 0.070 points to 7.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endesa (MADRID:ELE), which lost 4.12% or 0.738 points to trade at 17.168 in late trade. Enagas (MADRID:ENAG) declined 3.84% or 1.050 points to end at 26.300 and Sacyr (MADRID:SCYR) shed 3.67% or 0.153 points to 4.020.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 170 to 40 and 3 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.24% or 2.90 to $1207.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $59.85 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.30 to trade at $65.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7095.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 96.49.
