Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which rose 0.29% or 0.03 points to trade at 10.38 at the close. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) added 0.29% or 0.004 points to end at 1.400 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) was up 0.13% or 0.015 points to 11.380 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 3.05% or 0.232 points to trade at 7.377 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 2.94% or 0.103 points to end at 3.400 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) shed 2.53% or 0.025 points to 0.962.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 33 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.66% or 7.85 to $1198.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.00% or 0.53 to hit $52.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.36 to trade at $55.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.0696, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8566.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 100.39.
