Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.53% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MADRID:CABK), which rose 0.78% or 0.033 points to trade at 4.270 at the close. Acciona (MADRID:ANA) added 0.67% or 0.435 points to end at 65.785 and Indra A (MADRID:IDR) was up 0.53% or 0.049 points to 9.229 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols (MADRID:GRLS), which lost 1.99% or 0.725 points to trade at 35.795 in late trade. FCC (MADRID:FCC) declined 1.83% or 0.162 points to end at 8.700 and B. Sabadell (MADRID:SABE) shed 1.76% or 0.040 points to 2.230.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 160 to 54 and 4 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1175.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.03% or 0.62 to hit $59.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.57 to trade at $63.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7159.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.16.
