Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.72% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME:ROVI), which rose 1.81% or 1.55 points to trade at 86.95 at the close. Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) added 0.99% or 0.02 points to end at 1.79 and Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (BME:COL) was up 0.55% or 0.03 points to 5.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which lost 12.22% or 1.11 points to trade at 7.97 in late trade. Endesa SA (BME:ELE) declined 6.39% or 1.22 points to end at 17.80 and Redeia Corporacion SA (BME:REDE) shed 3.90% or 0.66 points to 16.26.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 150 to 60 and 15 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.07% or 24.85 to $2,338.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.49% or 0.40 to hit $81.30 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.34 to trade at $84.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 105.54.
