Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 1.76% or 0.168 points to trade at 9.702 at the close. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) added 1.75% or 0.450 points to end at 26.130 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was up 0.94% or 0.016 points to 1.720 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mapfre (MC:MAP), which lost 1.77% or 0.048 points to trade at 2.664 in late trade. Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE) declined 1.60% or 0.300 points to end at 18.500 and Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) shed 1.01% or 0.084 points to 8.216.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 108 to 77 and 13 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.51% or 6.40 to $1270.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.68% or 0.39 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.44 to trade at $64.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1879, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.88.
